Tue, Sep 8 (4:30pm - 6:30pm)

Description

The Victorian Trauma Grand Round

The Victorian Trauma Grand Round is a collaborative initiative to provide a forum for healthcare professionals involved in acute trauma care in Victoria to explore and debate all aspects of trauma care. The program will promote collaborative efforts and networking among members of the trauma community and showcase the expertise and available resources in trauma care in Victoria. Each quarter a grand round event will be hosted by a major Victorian trauma care provider. These events are open to all healthcare professionals.

This event will focus on trauma caused by burns and will be hosted by Alfred Health in collaboration with the Victorian Adult Burns Service.

A Surge in Burns Trauma

Specialists at the Victorian Adult Burns Service have reported a surge in burns since Victoria’s stage-3 corona virus lockdown came into effect in March – but severe burns occur at any time of the year – and often in rural and regional areas. The early management of burns sets the scene for patient outcomes: knowing what to do and providing best care makes a huge difference to the patient journey. Take this opportunity to update your skills and knowledge of the management for burn injuries, particularly in the early stages after injury, to improve patient care and outcomes.
